POSITION SUMMARY:

A Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping the facility operating and proactively repairing any problems. A Maintenance Technician will be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around the facility. The Maintenance Technician must listen carefully to recommendations by those affected and provide prompt and effective solutions for the team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in and support the principles of Great Game of Business and Open Book Management
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance of equipment to include but not limited to; forklifts, carts, and conveyors
  • Maintain outside building areas including debris removal, pathways, snow removal, & de-ice applications
  • Set-up and maintain training and break rooms for various types of activities
  • Operate powered sweepers and scrubbers to clean all walkways and drive aisles
  • Operate Powered Industrial Trucks including forklifts and aerial lifts
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools
  • Perform numerous regularly schedule safety inspections, working closely with the EHS Coordinator
  • Perform general painting including walls, stairs, door, and some machinery
  • Provide assistance to Maintenance Technicians in facility projects requiring electrical, plumbing, HVAC, assembly, disassembly, etc. as directed
  • Track maintenance supplies, communicate with suppliers for replenishment needs, and drive to coordinate purchases and pickups
  • Follow approved work instructions

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed mostly in an uncontrolled atmosphere; will be exposed to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures. The Maintenance Technician will be required to stand/walk 90% of the work day and sit 10% of the work day. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis is required. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb ladders, operate scissor-lift, sit-down forklift, and stand-up forklift, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; talk and hear. All employees are required to follow safety standards, adhere to Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • 1 year experience with maintenance, custodial work, or construction
  • PREFERRED: Basic Conveyor and Electrical Knowledge
  • PREFERRED: 2 years of experience with maintenance, custodial work, or construction
  • PREFERRED: 1 year of fork lift experience

  • Reading Comprehension: basic reading comprehension in order to read and interpret documents, plans, and schematic drawings and comprehend written instructions.
  • Technology: Solid computer proficiency with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office & Windows based programs. Ability to use scanners and other technology for inventory purposes
