The Facilities Foreman will be responsible for providing oversight to the Maintenance Specialists and Assistants as well as working in the field to upkeep Abilities First, Inc. and client properties by performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and regular inspections. They will assist in the oversight of construction projects and provide supervision and direction to maintenance staff when the Director of Facilities is not available. The Maintenance Foreman reports to the Director of Facilities. In the absence of the Director, the Foreman will report to the Operations Manager. This position will require travel through both Dutchess and Orange counties using an agency vehicle.


Schedule: Monday-Friday day shift with flexibility


Responsibilities will include:

  • Will assign work orders to Facilities staff, working collaboratively with the Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors and/or agency staff members to ensure maintenance of various locations.
  • Complete work orders for assigned location as well as back up and/or for emergencies at agency locations.
  • Perform typical repairs which include but are not limited to: plumbing, electrical, building structural, snow plowing and shoveling tasks.
  • May assist in moving offices, equipment, furniture, files and individual’s household belongings.
  • Provide oversight to the Maintenance specialists/assistants while working in the field; may provide staff training as required.
  • Ensure that all site inspections and Ground Maintenance are completed properly and efficiently.
  • Ensure that all equipment is being properly serviced and maintained.
  • Assist in oversight of construction projects; ensure bids and required permits are secured.
  • Maintain safe and efficient work areas at all times.
  • Will carry cellular phone and respond to calls during all work hours.
  • Designated as on-call on a rotating basis; responds to all calls in a timely manner.
  • Will communicate and represent the agency professionally with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Uses computer programs to assign work orders, access timesheets, maintain site records, and to achieve other basic departmental needs.
  • Adheres to agency Code of Ethical and Legal Behavior which requires all employees, consultants, Board members, volunteers, and affiliates to perform their duties according to ethical and legal standards with honesty, integrity, fairness, good faith, and respect for others and the law.
  • Performs other job related activities as requested by the Director of Facilities and Operations Manager, where appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

· Minimum ten years’ experience, with demonstrated expertise in one or more fields (carpentry, plumbing, electric, etc.); and

· Minimum of three years’ of supervisory experience required. A combination of technical and supervisory experience that the Director deems appropriate may be acceptable.

· Basic computer skills required.

· Must have a current NYS driver’s license, free of moving violations; deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier.
