The Dental Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties to assist the dental staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

POSITION SUMMARY

To provide superior quality, competitive value and outstanding service by providing the highest standard of quality medical care to Brevard Health Alliance (BHA) patients through the primary care medical home model. This position will assist the organization with 340B auditing and compliance, assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Covered areas include on-site pharmacy operations, contract pharmacy operations, medication dispensing rooms, and all other 340B areas of operation.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Current State of Florida Registration Pharmacy Technician registration or current State of Florida Pharmacy Intern registration required. Prefer national pharmacy technician certification by the PTCB or ExCPT. IV admixture experience preferred. Six (6) or more months of FQHC experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Computer skills to support distribution systems required

• Flexible schedule with availability to work long and irregular hours; includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary

• Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Pharmacy & POS software

• Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Excellent oral and written communication and critical thinking skills.

• Able and willing to be educated on the 340B program and to stay up to date with program changes

• Ensures 340B program compliance

• Works to ensure there are systems/mechanisms and internal controls are in place to reasonably ensure ongoing compliance with all 340B requirements.

• Ability to manage projects.

• Advanced Excel skills.

• Working knowledge of pharmacy/healthcare billing practices.

• Attends pharmacy staff meetings and reads pertinent email communication.

• Can perform the arithmetic calculations required for the usual dosage determination and solution preparation.

• Participates in orientation, education, and training programs. Reviews literature and other materials as assigned.

• Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the pharmacy technician’s duties and responsibilities, including standards of ethics and applicable laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy.

• Completes all competence/skills assessment requirements.

• Collects data, conducts quality monitors, and completes documentation as assigned.

• Maintains Technician Registration & works as pharmacy technician in pharmacies as needed.

• Organizes and prioritizes work assignments. • Communicates & manages good working relationships with all 340B Third Party Administrators. • Assist the Pharmacy & 340B Compliance Manager with AAAHC Chapter 11 accreditation & help with ensuring BHA follows all AAAHC pharmacy guidelines. • Assist with troubleshooting pharmacy billing issues, ensure that billing issues are addressed timely and that any impact on the pharmacy financials are disclosed to the Pharmacy & 340B Compliance Manager along with the CFO. • Perform audits on in-house pharmacies claims to ensure billing accuracy and patient safety. • Collect & maintain records of all BHA’s in-house pharmacies monthly controlled substance audits, weekly return to stock audits, quarterly waste/return logs, and quarterly CQI reports. • Submits monthly pharmacy reporting to quality, monthly KPI data to the Director of Pharmacy, and weekly in-house pharmacies capture rates for providers’ score cards. • Regularly communicate with staff involved with the 340B program to be sure that processes remain efficient and to address any problems or suggestions for improvement.

• Assists with the following audit processes to assure compliance with the 340B regulations related to outpatient care by the covered entity:

• Audits using the medical record to verify the patient received health care from a qualified provider.

• Audits using the covered entities medical record to verify the patient received health care in a qualified outpatient area.

• Audits to verify the medication provided by the covered entity was an eligible medication and can be replenished at 340B cost under the program.

• Audits to verify that duplicate discounts do not occur.

• Performs approval job duties as assigned.

• Assist the Pharmacy & 340B Coordinator manager in Pharmacy Admin responsibilities, including but not limited to Pharmacy credentialing, scheduling, delivery, Specialty pharmacy, and new Pharmacy set up.
