RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking a growth-oriented candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility in Alpharetta, GA.

Job Description:

The main function of a controls engineer is to design, develop, install, and maintain equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems and processes. They will assist in setting the design schedule and follow the project through all phases. This will include testing, analyzing, improvements, troubleshooting & verification of legal specifications.

Typical job tasks:

  • Assists in creating and following electrical design schedule, from specification concept to system up completion, while keeping to an overall project schedule.
  • Testing, evaluating, modifying and calibrating products and instruments.

  • Analyze plant processes, design and implement improvements.

  • Troubleshooting issues with hardware and processes.

  • Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls.

  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to create PLC programs using one of the IEC 61131 PLC Programming languages i.e. Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text or any other PLC programming language
  • Design, test, and commission control systems. i.e. systems with different PLC controllers in the same system, experience interfacing, designing controls with different manufacturers
  • Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms. Expert knowledge on at least one of the following PLC platforms. Schneider Momentum, M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, Woodward MSLC, DSLC, Easy Gen, and LS5 Architecture
  • Interpret customer specifications and drawings, and apply them to design platform while considering industry regulations and requirements
  • Customize PLC software and hardware templates

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
