Great opportunity for an entry-level position in a fast-paced and demanding growth environment. Blue Tide Environmental is starting production on a new re-refinery in Baytown, Texas and is looking for a Logistics Specialist ready to join a dedicated, experienced team to learn and grow in an exciting sustainability-focused industry. The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing shipment communications, documentation, and scheduling with carriers and suppliers. This role will also update receiving/inventory reports and other tracking data as needed. This position will report to the Logistics Manager and back up the Logistics Supervisor at the Baytown plant as necessary.
Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure all shipments have a sales order/purchase order number issued by customer service before scheduling shipments
  • Coordinate railcar shipments from suppliers to terminals and request Waybills
  • Submit and confirm rail nominations to receiving terminals
  • Arrange surveyor to pull samples from railcars, barges, tanks and set up surveyor for Barge pre-loading/offloading at terminals and Baytown Plant
  • Update Logistics Manager on problem loads and what actions have been taken; update suppliers and receiving terminals on status of railcars
  • Monitor daily railcar trace report; verify that railcars have arrived at terminal or returned to supplier and manage communication
  • Handle data entry of all shipment specifics with 100% accuracy; validate all load data prior to marking loads delivered, for accounting purposes
  • Maintain log daily railcar loading activities
  • Back up the Logistics Specialist coordinating plant shipping/receiving schedule as necessary
  • Maintain a sense of urgency coordinating shipments without sacrificing accuracy for speed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • DOT regulations knowledge preferred
  • Previous experience with rail logistics preferred
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to make discretionary judgments and decisions quickly and accurately
