Entry Level Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED. State Pharmacy Technician Registration required. Two years experience preferred. Must possess good writing, reading, spelling and communication skills. Legible handwriting. Ability to maintain comprehensive and confidential filing system. Understand importance of patient confidentiality. Able to type accurately 45 WPM. Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

1. Must be able to see at 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aid acceptable).

2. Must be able to distinguish colors.

3. Must be able to bend and stoop from standing position to floor to pick up supplies.

4. Must be able to walk within the designated department for approximately 6 hours per 8-hour shift.

5. If recovering, one year of continuous verifiable sobriety.

General Responsibilities:

Organize and maintain inventory of medication and supplies. Assist in dispensing and recording medications prescribed. Assist with consults.

Know and abide by the general provisions of 42 CFR Part 2, “Confidentiality of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Patient Records”, and 45 CFR “Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.” This position has unrestricted access to patient identifying and patient health information.

Essential Functions:

  1. Packaging of medications.
  2. Check in drug order and stock.
  3. Verify invoices charges to ensure contract pricing.
  4. Pick up orders.
  5. Filling orders.
  6. Input patient admissions and discharges into computer.
  7. Run floor stock labels.
  8. Inventory of supplies.
  9. Inventory control - receipting orders, deleting fills, physical counts.
  10. File prescriptions and reports
  11. Responsible for maintenance of packing machine and medicine carts.
  12. Working with facilities start-up and changes.
  13. Daily back up.
  14. Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, must not appear impaired or disoriented, but rather must present coherent and articulate speech, kept appearance, alert, oriented, and responsive to patients' needs and concerns.
  15. Regular attendance.
  16. Other duties as assigned.
  17. Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients and prospective clients.

Must be able to work in constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner
