The Lead Security Guard acts in a leadership capacity for the security team and is responsible for implementing and demonstrating policies and procedures designed to protect and safeguard all residents, employees, guests and physical assets of the Academy Mapleton Hill (AMH) community.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the direction of the Department lead in implementing all applicable policies and procedures designed to safeguard the community
  • Acts in a leadership capacity for security team
  • Creates, defines and informs the team’s strategic operations including patrol routes, naming system and timing
  • Walks patrols of buildings and property perimeter on a routine basis
  • Trains security guards – actively teaches best practices
  • Supervises or delegates supervision of Fire Drills
  • Creates emergency response documents and SOPS, trains security guards on content
  • Acts in the same capacity as MOD, communicates effectively with Information officer and MOD
  • Fulfils regular security guard duties including action as on-site first responder to emergencies
  • Monitors and maintains surveillance system – admin access level
  • Reviews incident surveillance footage and provides reports
  • Performs all job duties in a manner that demonstrates respect for all residents, employees and guests
  • Proactive in reporting and investigating suspicious activity on premises
  • Confirms functional operation of door and locks throughout the entire community campus
  • Reports items of concern or that require attention through proper channels
  • Protects residents’ rights, records, and privacy as required by state regulations
  • Practices AMH’s Service Standards in all work situations
  • Documents information in the Daily Activity Report and presents to leadership
  • Communicates pass-down information to incoming shifts
  • Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality when handling sensitive employee, resident, and Academy Boulder matters

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English
  • Three plus years of security-related work experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional adherence to honesty, integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Proficiency in Spanish, a plus


  • Education and Experience
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field, a plus
  • AED certified, a plus
  • CPR certification, a plus
