Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced COBOL Developer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in COBOL programming and IBM mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will possess an MBI clearance and will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing COBOL applications to support our organization's mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and implement COBOL applications on IBM mainframe systems.
  • Analyze user requirements and translate them into efficient and effective technical solutions.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Maintain and enhance existing COBOL applications to improve functionality and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and integration projects as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and data protection regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in COBOL programming.
  • Strong experience with IBM mainframe environments, including z/OS, CICS, JCL, and VSAM.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Unisys COBOL.
  • Knowledge of database management systems, such as DB2.
  • Familiarity with modern software development tools and practices, including Agile methodologies.
  • Prior experience in a government or regulated industry environment.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Must possess an active MBI (Minimum Background Investigation) clearance.
