POSITION SUMMARY

An experienced Fleet Mechanic for Perma-Seal possesses a strong background in the repair and general maintenance of automotive, diesel, and heavy equipment. Under the direction of the Fleet Manager this role is compliance focused, diagnosing and fixing mechanical issues as they arise while also providing preventative care.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Diagnose and repair a variety of mechanical issues in vehicles, equipment, and machinery.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid replacements.
  • Perform detailed inspections to identify and address worn or damaged parts, ensuring safety and optimal performance.
  • Utilize computer diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, explaining repair procedures, and offering cost effective and timely recommendations.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and technological advancements to improve skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies at all times.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTIC

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to relay and follow directions.
  • Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills for communicating issues and timelines for repair with team members. 
  • Ability to keep detailed records of all repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Reliable transportation promoting punctual, dependable work attendance.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work both independently and under supervision.
  • Driver’s license with insurability as mandated by insurance carrier. This position requires the ability to obtain a non CDL Class C driver’s license.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Certification in Automotive Training from an accredited institution.  
  • High School Diploma or GED.  
  • Minimum of three years related experience in the automotive, diesel and heavy equipment field, five or more years preferred.
