Are you passionate about bicycles and interested in contributing to the success of Summit County’s bikeshare program? We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Temporary Bicycle Mechanic I. As a Bicycle Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our bikeshare fleet, ensuring that residents and visitors have a smooth enjoyable cycling experience.


The successful candidate will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on the bikeshare fleet and stations from May 1st to November 15th. Conduct repairs in the warehouse and travel to different locations within the bikeshare system as needed. Rebalance bicycles at stations using a van or bicycle, ensuring even distribution. Track and document inventory usage, tools, repairs, and work performed on a digital platform. Work collaboratively with the Travel Demand Planning Manager and other team members to ensure the bikeshare program’s success. Works under the general supervision of the Travel Demand Planning Manager.

Bicycle Mechanic I

Salary Range: $18.73 - $26.24/hourly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • No education requirement. High School Diploma preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must submit Department of Motor Vehicle driving record and have a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of bicycle repairs using hand, air, and power tools to complete bicycle repairs and inspections in a professional and timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Technical troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving issues and testing functionality of bicycles and station components in a professional and timely manner
  • Perform system-wide maintenance and repairs for the e-bikes while maintaining the highest of safety and operational standards.
  • Ensure that all necessary reporting is accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Drive county vehicles to station locations to perform basic repairs along the route. "Balancing" the system by moving bikes from full stations to empty stations
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
