Position Summary:

The Capital Campaign and Grants Manager works closely with the Vice President (VP) of Development and Director of Development to manage all aspects of the Campus Expansion Campaign and Annual Campaign including writing grants/proposals and grant reports, compiling stewardship reports, tracking pledge payments and financial projections, researching donors/prospects, sending donor communication and acknowledgement letters, and donor recognition fulfillment.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

Grants and Proposals

  • Assists VP of Development by preparing campaign proposals for individual donors and foundations and tracking grant deadlines.
  • Prepares and submits grants to foundations in greater Nebraska (foundations and community foundations).
  • Secures grant funding from new foundations annually.
  • Researches, strategizes, and composes grants to secure public funding (Nebraska Arts Council, Douglas County, National Endowment for the Arts, Humanities Nebraska, Mid-America Arts Alliance, etc.).
  • Develops a plan for each public agency (county, state, and federal agencies) that identifies the project, ask amount, and deadline.

Reports and Stewardship

  • Prepares quarterly stewardship reports for campaign donors.
  • Prepares program/performance stewardships reports for annual donors.
  • Prepares and submits reports to public agencies.
  • Manages stewardship and engagement between O-pa and local public officials/agencies (i.e. invites to events/programs, keeping them informed of programs in their districts.).
  • Assists VP of Development and Director of Development with other reports as needed.
  • Tracks report deadlines.

Campaign Donor Tracking

  • Maintains tracking grid of current and prospective donors and tracks progress and next steps.
  • Ensures that contact reports from donor meetings are entered in the Tessitura database and appropriate follow-up actions and next steps are noted.
  • Maintains tracking grid of naming opportunities and donor recognition opportunities.
  • Maintains an accurate report of campaign fundraising progress.

Gift Acknowledgement

  • Ensures every campaign gift and pledge is managed seamlessly so the donor is officially thanked within 24-48 hours of receiving the gift and thanked again by VP of Development, President, Campaign Chair, etc.
  • Creates and maintains tracking grid of annual payment projections and pledge reminders.
  • Prepares and sends all campaign pledge reminders.

Donor Research/Meetings

  • Conducts prospect identification and research on current and prospective donors including using the Tessitura database and iWave wealth screening systems, etc.
  • Compiles donor profile reports on prospective donors with information on donors’ giving history, capacity, interests, etc.
  • Assists VP of Development with preparing all campaign donor meeting materials including presentations and makes sure the donor receives any necessary follow-up information.

Donor Events and Lounges

  • Assists with hosting the donor lounges.
  • Assists with department functions and special events, as needed.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Four (4) or more years’ applicable experience in fund development and/or grant writing is required.
  • Must possess strong organization, planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and move projects forward.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to create strong professional relationships.
  • Must be able to take initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Proven ability to research, plan and think strategically.
  • Possess strict attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in web-based research and the use of donor database software.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited university or college.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to move about for extended periods of time.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
