Maintenance Planner

  • Reports to the maintenance manager.
  • Provide leadership in assuring all requirements of the routine maintenance work process are utilized consistently and effectively to continuously improve the process and ensure goals are met.
    1. Managing and motivating the efficient completion of daily maintenance work order from maintenance personnel.
    2. Manage the workload distribution and personnel skill utilization.
    3. Training maintenance personnel.
  • Interface daily with production and maintenance department personnel to review work orders for maintenance services. Review and provide input on definition, accuracy, and priority.
    1. Communicate with scheduling and production, maintenance work scheduled the next day and requirements needed from production and/or scheduling.
  • Develop the scope of each work order.
    1. Procure all required material, outside contract services, rental equipment and specialized tools to include emphasis on all the requirements of company specifications, HSE and PSM programs.
      • Management of maintenance storeroom and spare parts inventory.
    2. Create & maintain repetitive job plans.
    3. Utilize SAP to manage work orders, procure materials, and develop maintenance plans.
  • Ensure the PSM, HSE procedures are followed, for in-house mechanics and contractors, during job execution.
    1. Safe work, hot work, confined space, LOTO, line break, excavation, and crane permits.
  • Track area planning backlog & work orders ensuring data is current & accurate.
    1. Communicate work order status and scheduling management of backlog work orders during a weekly work order review meeting to production, safety, and site management.
  • Evaluate non-resident contractor performance, including quality & safety performance.
  • Assist engineers with plant projects, technical details, & specifications. Make recommendations on projects such as timeline, labor requirements, work scope, & material.
    1. Advocate for maintenance reliability.
    2. Continued development of the PM program.
  • Follow the Management of Change Process to document & implement plant PSM changes.
  • Provide planning and supervisory support for outages.
  • On a rotating on-call schedule for off-hours maintenance issues.
  • Participate in PHA, PSM, ISO reviews, near miss reporting, and incident investigations.

Requirements:

  • Education
    1. A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
    1. Maintenance planner/Mechanical background in an industrial/chemical manufacturing environment
    2. Hands-on experience in repair and installation of plant equipment.
    3. Good working knowledge of and planning jobs in SAP (preferred)
    4. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
    5. PSM background (preferred)
    6. Troubleshooting/critical thinking/problem solving skills.
    7. Multi-tasking and time management skills
    8. Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
    9. Ability to collaborate, negotiate, and facilitate decision-making.
    10. Demonstrated leadership skills. The ability to inspire and lead others.
    11. Ability to work overtime and be on-call for maintenance issues.
