Job DescriptionJob Description

The Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and trouble-shooting the wastewater treatment equipment.

The Operator ensures that wastewater is safely treated to meet the permit requirements to be discharged into the sewer system or returned to facilities.

**Primary Duties**

  • Collect samples from the treatment plant or distribution system.

  • Perform routine water quality analysis, sample custody, data entry and recordkeeping.

  • Interpret water quality results

  • Organize functions and activities related to environmental management, maintenance preventive activities and water quality for assigned facility

  • Investigate water quality complaints and determine course of action needed

  • Maintain all applicable lab certifications, accreditations, or approvals to conduct compliance and process quality control work

  • Follow current programs to ensure environmental compliance

  • Assist in resolving treatment issues

  • Monitor, calibrate, and troubleshoot analyzers, equipment, etc to ensure established standards of performance and accuracy are maintained

  • Perform general system maintenance of equipment including but not limited to: dissolved air floatation (DAF) Unit, Filter Press, Transfer and Chemical Injection Pump.

  • Use of water treatment chemicals as needed

  • Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.

  • May be assigned to other projects and duties

**Job Qualifications**

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Experience with MS Office is required

  • Ability to make independent decisions regularly

  • Understanding of the principles of water and/or wastewater treatment.

  • Good oral and written communication skills (English); legible handwriting.

  • Blueprint Reading
  • Shop Math Skills
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills

Salary info:

$29 - $29 / hr
