Summary:

The Human Resources Specialist provides support to the Human Resources Department and assists employees throughout the employment life cycle. Provides coordination, planning and support for essential components to ensure smooth operations of the Human Resources Department.


Essential Functions:

Assists with coordination of multiple Human Resource functions including recruitment, onboarding, background screening, and personnel file maintenance. Assists with employee events, recognition and wellness activities.


Assists with management of open positions through the agency’s Applicant Tracking System; screens and recruits candidates, schedules interviews, extends offers of employment. Initiates candidate background screening through online process, ensures completion by candidate. Monitors and oversees candidate onboarding process for recruited new hires. Assists with maintenance of tracking systems for special leave, employee retention, and ongoing personnel compliance requirements. Assists with coordinating annual benefit open enrollments, processes benefit enrollments for new hires and status changes.


Performs customer service functions by responding to employee requests and questions regarding onboarding process, benefit programs and general HR functions. Assists with coordination of staff-led committees, agency meetings and events. Assists with various research and/or special projects. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

General Requirements:

One to three years of Human Resources experience preferred with an emphasis on recruiting and onboarding. Knowledge of basic human resource functions and procedures preferred. Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking database systems experience or equivalent systems/databases preferred. Equivalent education may be considered in lieu of required experience.


Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail, organization and accuracy, adaptability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks required. Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite and databases required. Must have ability to effectively work with Agency employees, outside contacts, and diverse client population.


Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree or equivalent experience in related field preferred.


Certification Requirements:

Certification eligibility in applicable field is preferred.


Amount of Travel: Minimal, mostly confined to local travel.


Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday.


Salary Range: Salary commensurate with certification, education and experience.
