A Respiratory Therapist plays a crucial role in providing care and treatment for patients with breathing difficulties or cardiopulmonary disorders. They are responsible for assessing and treating patients who have difficulty breathing, as well as providing emergency care for patients experiencing heart attacks, stroke, drowning, or shock. Respiratory Therapists work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans to improve patients' lung function and overall well-being.Must-Haves
  • Current State of Texas Respiratory Therapist Licensure (RRT or CRT)
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy
  • BLS Certification required&
  • ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire

Key responsibilities
  • Assessing and evaluating patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders
  • Developing and implementing respiratory care plans
  • Administering medications and treatments
  • Monitoring and maintaining life support equipment
  • Performing diagnostic tests
  • Providing patient education and counseling
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals
  • Documenting patient information and treatment plans
  • Participating in case management
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and standards
  • Conducting research in respiratory care
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives
  • Training and supervising respiratory therapy students and assistants
  • Maintaining professional knowledge and skills
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
  • Certification and licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Patient assessment and care planning skills
  • Proficiency in using respiratory therapy equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to work rotating shifts
