Mechanic

Job Summary: The Assembly Mechanic is responsible for performing MRB (Material Review Board) work statements and final product verification (FPV) at the end of the production line and during off shifts. This role involves assembling major structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, performing rework, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assembly and Rework:

    • Assemble and create major assembly structures including fuselage panels, bulkheads, and structural subassemblies according to engineering drawings.
    • Perform rework tasks as necessary, including stabilizing and balancing jack systems and cradles before skin changes.
    • Remove, replace, and repair skins and major MRB items not accepted to engineering drawings, ensuring conversion of detail skins/structures into engineering configurations through match drilling.
  2. Verification and Troubleshooting:

    • Conduct final product verification (FPV) and troubleshoot major structural repairs according to engineering specifications.
    • Assemble, install, seal, rig, inspect, and complete precision and structural system components. Ensure compliance with drawings, process specifications, and quality control requirements.
    • Functional test and correct fit, form, and function of assemblies and components.
  3. Technical Operations:

    • Obtain and interpret information from prints, charts, sketches, work instructions, and other documents.
    • Utilize shop mathematics, precision measuring tools, and test instruments to complete work assignments and functional tests.
    • Use tooling for assembling components into sub-assemblies or end items.
  4. Quality Assurance:

    • Verify work against work instructions and engineering specifications; identify and document discrepancies.
    • Ensure equipment and tool certifications are current and perform routine minor machine maintenance (e.g., replacing filters, changing bulbs, maintaining lubrication levels).
  5. Process Support:

    • Move products within the manufacturing work area using assigned equipment and complete transactions for product movement.
    • Support the continuous flow of production by training and assisting employees at all classification levels.
    • Assist in training other assembly personnel in techniques for assembly, installation, and inspection.
  6. Cross-Training and Certification:

    • Cross-train in inspection and obtain SIA (Structural Inspection Authorization) qualification.
    • Demonstrate skill and knowledge in all general functions of the Assembly Mechanic role, including assembly, installation, structures, sub-assembly, and sealing.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of assembly mechanics and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in shop mathematics and use of precision measuring tools.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and performing structural repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with routine machine maintenance and equipment certification.

Additional Information:

  • Perform work within allotted schedules.
  • Support continuous improvement and process efficiency.
Job Requirements:

5 years minimum with heavy structure and skin change work

Contractors will be required to consume and work the high quantity of tags being generated on each unit during inspection. These contactors will be devoted to working tags which require MRB.

Salary: $52/hr
