Summary: The Civil Technician 1’s responsibility is to assist the civil, electrical, and general foreman with all tasks in effort to complete projects on time, on budget, and to our customers satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Receive and retain training and direction from the supervisor
  • Follow directions and complete tasks assigned in a timely manner. Communicate any delays
  • Organize jobsite materials and supplies to help maximize production
  • Load and unload jobsite materials
  • Install materials underground and overhead including:
  1. Digging trenches
  2. Backfilling
  3. Concrete
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • In addition to the above, other required qualifications for this role are:
  1. Basic technical understanding of the work being performed.

  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively, clearly and succinctly through spoken and written forms with peers, management, and customers. Able to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds
  4. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  5. Working knowledge of construction, quality, safety and OSHA guidelines
  6. Valid certifications and licensing as required
  7. Travel overnight to remote job sites up to 80 - 100% of time
  • Preferred qualifications are:
  1. 1+ years’ related experience
  2. Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record
  3. Class A CDL preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, lift, squat, push, pull, climb stairs, ladders, hear, see, reach, grasp and use hands and fingers to operate a telephone, power tools, and equipment. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift more than 50 lbs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is exposed to extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold, and wet or humid. The employee may work in high places, and/or work around moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and other equipment. The employee may also work in areas where the noise volume is loud and constant. The employee must have the ability to work overtime and to travel to remote job sites approximately 60 – 80% of their work week, which will include overnight stays.
