About being a Sr. HR Advisor at Mainsail HR:

SCOPE

The Sr. HR Advisor is responsible for providing Human Resources consultation and support to
clients through assessment, identification, and execution of HR strategies to accomplish the
client’s business and Human Resources objectives. This position will work under minimal
supervision and be SHRM-SCP certified. Additionally, this role mentors and may direct other HR
Advisors, and serves as the lead advisor for clients.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates an on-going and value-add relationship between Mainsail HR and our clients to provide strategic HR guidance and support throughout the employee lifecycle to fit the clients’ changing needs.
  • Assessing a company’s current HR programs and recommending solutions using knowledge of various HR functions.
  • Advise clients on the administration of human resources policies and procedures, and employment law requirements.
  • Develop, revise, and implement HR policies and procedures as requested by the client.
  • Conduct assessments of HR activities to ensure HR programs and services are compliant with established policies and procedures and state/federal laws and regulations.
  • Provide strategic HR advice and recommendations to clients for resolution of daily issues on a variety of Human Resources topics.
  • Identifies opportunities to refer Organizational Development, HCM and recruiting services to clients.
  • Conduct research through various methods (data collection, surveys, employee conversations, etc.) to provide sound HR council and guidance.
  • Formulate strategic and practical plans to address human resource matters.
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with clients and contacts to grow business relationships and value of Mainsail HR support.
  • Devise plans and techniques to drive change and culture management.
  • Help establish control systems for compliance with business methods and HR practices.
  • Review systems and processes and make modifications to address issues.
  • Mentor and direct the work of HR Advisors and other MHR team members as appropriate and assists with new hire orientation for MHR team members.
  • Educates and serves a resource for knowledge/guidance to other HR Advisors.
  • Be knowledgeable of advancements in the field and present new ideas to clients.
  • May assist with recruiting other HR Professionals to MHR.

  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of HR principles, functions, methods and best practices, as well as strong business acumen.
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport with clients.   
  • Commitment and initiatives to focus on client needs thoroughly until situation resolved.
  • Ability to understand the client’s business and explain HR ideas and concepts in a simplified manner that apply to the business.
  • Honest and with integrity makes appropriate recommendations to clients that are in their best interest.

  • Innovative problem-solving capabilities. with problem-solving abilities and flexibility to improvise as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience       10+ years of significant HR experience in a variety of roles and industries,                                           demonstrating increasing career and knowledge progression. Proven track record                             of setting and meeting aggressive goals.

Education         Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required

Certification     Senior SHRM or other HR Certification required

Schedule          Flexible – part-time or full-time hours, remote
