Job Summary:

We are looking for a reliable delivery driver who is concerned with customer satisfaction and transporting items in a safe, timely manner. The delivery driver will load materials onto the truck and drop them off to customers while adhering to assigned routes and time schedules. This role will also function within the warehouse multiple days each week in order to ensure orders are pulled and packed correctly and accurate inventory levels are maintained. This position offers the opportunity to be an integral part of our team and contribute to our continued success.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a Class B commercial vehicle to transport materials to customers
  • Load and unload material onto the truck using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure all deliveries are made accurately and on time while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while operating the vehicle.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck and work area.
  • Complete required paperwork, such as delivery logs, trip reports, and vehicle inspection forms, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and management to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Follow company procedures for handling materials, including securing loads and handling hazardous materials safely.
  • Work approximately 40% of the week (2 days) in the warehouse. This will vary to meet business needs.
  • Pull orders from designated locations within the warehouse and pack them for delivery to customers.
  • Periodically review inventory levels to ensure accurate records.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to improve skills and stay current with industry regulations.
  • Demonstrate the values of W.E.H. Supply in all activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy items.
  • Able to pass DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Able to drive manual trucks.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School education or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • A valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
  • Forklift experience preferred.

 

Physical Requirements and Environment:

  • Ability to communicate with team and customers
  • Conditions within the work setting may include moderate to high noise levels, exposure to mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
  • Ability to work Saturdays to perform work as necessary.
  • Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery.
  • Able to lift and move items up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to spend extended periods of time sitting and making deliveries.
