Position: Intensive Care Nurse
Location: Rapid City, SD
Duration: 3 Months

Job Summary:

The Intensive Care Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). They are tasked with assessing patient conditions, administering treatments, monitoring vital signs, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients and develops individualized care plans.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitors and interprets vital signs, ECG rhythms, and other patient parameters.
  • Provides continuous monitoring and support for patients on life support equipment, such as ventilators and cardiac monitors.
  • Collaborates with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Responds promptly to changes in patient status and implements appropriate interventions.
  • Documents patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment accurately and timely.
  • Maintains a clean and organized patient care environment, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Provides emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding the patient's condition, treatment plan, and prognosis.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and educational activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification

Additional Information:

  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience preferred, excluding travel assignments.
  • First-time travelers not accepted; minimum one prior travel assignment required.
  • Travelers must reside at least 100 miles away from any *** facility.
  • Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.
