Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription The Packaging Engineer supports all aspects of packaging development activities including development, testing, selection, implementation and continuous improvement of packaging materials and methods.  

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and update specifications for packaging materials and methods
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems with current packaging and participate in  root cause and corrective actions
  • Instruct production & test personnel on packaging methods and provide technical support as required
  • Work with other functions such as design engineering, project engineering, and manufacturing as required
  • Perform qualification, verification and validation for new packaging materials and methods and changes to existing materials and methods
  • Work to develop professional relationships through collaboration, respect, professionalism, trust and integrity
  • Comply with and support company policies and programs regarding safety, security, ISO, EEO, OSHA

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) experience (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CREO)
  • Experience with integrated circuit, semiconductor or similar microelectronics product packaging
  • Exposure to DFx principles (Design for Manufacturing, Automation, Affordability, etc.)
  • Familiar with continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Standardized Work, Kanban, JIT, Kaizen, and Poke-Yoke 
  • Must have the ability to train others and work as a member of inter-disciplinary teams
  • Must have proficient PC skills, proficiency in the use of most Windows based software. This includes, but is not limited to Word, AutoCAD, Excel, and other standard programs
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to collect, interpret and present data to supervisor or project leader
  • Strong attention to details
  • Ability to adapt and learn new skills due to continually changing work environment
  • Good time management skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to work basic supervision and a sense of urgency to meet production goals and customer expectations
  • Structured problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to be an analytical thinker and task oriented
  • Associate Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical or Materials preferred)     
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
