Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionOur hospital is seeking a Full-Time Lead Veterinary Technician to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital.
The Lead Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals. The Lead Technician will be utilized during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary, stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools and ensuring that equipment is in working order. Technical skills will include, but are not limited to: venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, and monitoring, dental prophy, radiography, administering medications, performing laboratory analysis, client education, communicate with clients (pet owners), and update patient files. 

The Lead Technician will also perform a variety of activities related to the supervision and organization of the hospital support team. The Lead Technician will act as a liaison between techs and management on all matters affecting the flow of hospital activities and patient care. Collaborates with management in determining and obtaining supplies needed in the performance of quality patient care while maintaining hospital profitability. Maintain a positive attitude as an example for the technical staff while displaying strong leadership and motivation skills. Be able to assist when there is a technician shortage or when the flow of business warrants. Believe in the highest standards of care and uphold the values of personal responsibility, honesty, integrity, ethical behavior, and professionalism.

  • Supervision of all technicians and assistants.
  • Training, education, developing of staff.

  • Directing traffic in hospital, i.e., patient care, treatments, and other staff duties daily.
  • Supervise staff to assure that each job is being effectively and efficiently handled.
  • Employee policy enforcement.
  • Employee relations and communications.
  • Aid in contributing to a positive morale and assist with employee retention efforts


Skills, Knowledge, & Expertise
  • Prior Customer Service Experience
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Current state licensure in good standing for Veterinary Technician roles
