Job DescriptionJob Description

Sandis is currently looking for a Party Chief for our Campbell, California office. The ideal candidate is a team-player who is detail oriented, highly organized and is self-motivated and enjoys starting work in the early mornings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform all types of surveys, including but not limited to, construction staking, As-Builts, ALTA, topographic, boundary and subdivision surveys
  • Plan and coordinate the efforts of the survey crew and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly, and efficiently
  • Anticipate design needs and perform topographic mapping for design following survey standards and feature coding procedures.
  • Perform field quality control of design documents
  • Assist with survey computations and data collection
  • Train surveying team in the use of survey equipment (Leica), survey methods and safety standards.
  • Assist with duties of survey apprentices as needed
  • Communicate with all office survey team members as well as owners and contractors (reports to Survey Project Manager)
  • Ensure that survey equipment is correctly operated and maintained

Basic Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:

  • 3+ years of surveying experience leading a field crew
  • Completed or enrolled in the apprenticeship program, with good standing in the union.
  • Valid State driver's license, including an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company.
  • Knowledge of survey practices and procedures
  • Fundamental knowledge of mathematics, geometry and trigonometry and appropriate software to perform these functions.
  • Familiar with relevant equipment such as Trimble Robotic Total Station, digital and conventional levels, Leica 3D scanners, and related software applications.
  • General knowledge of computers, Microsoft office, internet, etc.
  • GPS, RTK, VRS and robotic survey experience
  • Scaffolding Safety, C2 Motorized Mobile Platforms and Fall Protection certification preferred
  • OSHA 10 certification; OSHA 30 preferred
  • Physical requirements include the ability to:
    • Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
    • Walk over rough and uneven terrain carrying survey equipment
    • Move in and around confined and cluttered places
    • Stand, up to 12 hours per day
    • Work overhead
    • Use hands to grasp and arms to reach

Upon employment, may be subject to and must pass random drug testing in compliance with federal, state and client guidelines. Continued employment is dependent on meeting project specific requirements
