Position Overview

The Controller is responsible for oversight of the Company’s operational accounting and general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate financial results that adhere with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) monthly.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including a detailed review and sign off of all balance sheet accounts and their corresponding reconciliations
  • Perform a monthly flux analysis to identify and understand changes from month to month and variances to the budget.
  • Compile and review monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement) for inclusion in to the monthly board reporting package
  • Review daily and monthly bank account reconciliations
  • Monitor and analyze work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Respond to inquiries from managers outside of the accounting umbrella regarding financial results, special reporting requests
  • Oversee the AP function, managing a team of accountants and billers to ensure proper recording of outstanding liabilities with vendors, and timely payment of those liabilities to keep the Company in good standing.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely completion and compliance with audit requirements. Liaise with auditors and provide necessary documentation and explanations during the audit process
  • Work closely with the tax team to ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all required tax returns. Ensure property tax, 1099 and 1099K filings are completed in a timely and accurate fashion. Make entries to the G/L to account for income tax liabilities, and deferred tax adjustments
  • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations. Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Required/Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 8-10 years of related business experience
  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in financial management and accounting
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
  • High level of integrity and accountability

Working Environment and Physical Demands (Office Positions)

Work is performed in a standard office environment with frequent travel. Requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
