Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Network Technician is responsible for assisting in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems to ensure efficient and reliable network performance. This role supports the Network Engineering Manager in executing network projects and daily operational tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Installation and Configuration:
    • Assist in the installation and configuration of network equipment, including routers, switches, servers, and other devices.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure network systems are functioning properly.
    • Diagnose and resolve network issues promptly, escalating complex problems to the Network Engineering Manager as needed.
    • Document network issues and their resolution for future reference.
  • Support and Administration:
    • Provide support for server and network infrastructure, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.
    • Assist with system backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning.
    • Monitor network performance and implement necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
  • Project Assistance:
    • Assist the Network Engineering Manager with network projects, including system upgrades and expansions.
    • Participate in the design and implementation of new network solutions for commercial and residential clients.
    • Assist in other duties in the service of the network and supporting systems
 
  • Customer Interaction:
    • Work with commercial and residential customers to address network service needs and issues.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to customers to ensure satisfaction with network services.
  • Compliance and Security:
    • Ensure compliance with network security protocols and standards.
    • Assist in performing FCC (Federal Communications Commission) testing and maintaining documentation as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, computer science or related field with two to years years of experience in network installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties. 

· Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or similar are preferred.
· Knowledge of networking protocols and equipment, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
· Experience with Windows, Cisco, Junos, Calix, and Linux is a plus.
SPECIAL SKILLS, AND ABILITIES.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
· Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Knowledge of IP networking and related technologies.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Able to work 8-hour shifts or longer if emergencies require. 
  • Must be able to work under any type of weather condition.
  • Must be skilled in the application of first aid methods.
  • Must be able to follow safe and efficient work practices.
  • Must possess visual acuity and manual dexterity as well as the ability to listen and communicate orally.
