Status: Non – Exempt 

Department: Water Operations

Reports To: Facilities and Fleet Manager

Salary: Starting $20 hourly, DOQ

Mustang Special Utility District is a local governmental entity providing water and water reclamation utility service in Denton, Collin, and Grayson Counties of north Texas. We are the largest district of this type in Texas and in one of the fastest growing areas of the country. comprising 34,000 connections over 200 sq. miles. Our motto is Second to None, Providing Life’s Most Precious Resource. We’re looking for a key person to join our team as Facilities Support Technician.

Description:

The Facilities Support Technician performs various duties to ensure that the facilities and grounds are operationally efficient and aesthetically pleasing. This role reports to the Facilities and Fleet Manager and supports all facilities, including offices, Operations, and vehicle maintenance crews by performing maintenance, repairs and installations on all municipality owned and operated facilities and utilities.


Duties:

  • Have a positive, optimistic demeanor with high integrity.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, build professional relationships internally and externally, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Coordinate and execute specific projects with minimal supervision.
  • Operate all types of ground maintenance machinery and equipment.
  • Perform ground maintenance i.e., mowing, weed-eating, edging, blowing, pruning, planting, trimming and sodding as needed.
  • Clean, clear, and dispose of debris and refuse in trash bins and in the landscape from all properties.
  • Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment, either manually or by using hand trucks or forklift.
  • Perform regular and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Maintains records of work activities, as well as of supplies, parts and materials used.
  • Perform minor plumbing work as needed.
  • Work with and escort qualified contractors performing work on or within the facilities.
  • Performs other tasks as needed.


Other Important Duties:

  • May be subject to work outside normal business hours.
  • May occasionally be required to be on-call, work weekends, and evenings/nights.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality is essential.
  • Willingness to grow and learn with Mustang.


Qualifications:       

  • High School GED or Diploma.
  • Class C Driver’s License
  • Valid, acceptable driving record.
  • General knowledge of basic construction hand tools.
  • Follow written and oral communication.
  • Communicate via phone, text, email, or radio.
  • Be able to read, write, and do some math.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Manual dexterity

 

Conditions Of Employment:

  • Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law).
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.
