About The Library Bar

Located in the historic lobby at The Hollywood Roosevelt, The Library Bar specializes in "Omakase-style" cocktails, offering patrons a personalized experience where the bartender crafts a unique concoction based on individual spirit preferences. With no predetermined drinks menu, patrons are invited to communicate their desired flavor profiles, allowing skilled bartenders to expertly mix a bespoke cocktail tailored just for them. Elevating the libation experience, The Library Bar invites guests to indulge in a customized touch for a truly memorable visit.

Position Summary

The Mixologist at The Library Bar leverages creativity, science and passion to create an elevated and truly unique drinking experience for guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate as a collaborator and contributor in the creation of The Library Bar cocktail program.
  • Mix and serve exceptional “Omakase-style” cocktails.
  • Develop and master new cocktail recipes and innovative techniques.
  • Provide guests with an unforgettable and personalized experience.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and bar etiquette.
  • Partner with The Library Bar and The Hollywood Roosevelt team to ensure seamless operations.
  • Play a key role in managing and maintaining The Library Bar inventory.
  • Stay current with industry trends, brand selections, service techniques as well as The Hollywood Roosevelt food and beverage offerings.
  • Develop and maintain positive communication and teamwork with all team members.
  • Follow all policies and procedures put forth by The Hollywood Roosevelt.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

As a leader overseeing The Library Bar team, the Lead Mixologist is expected to take on minor guest recovery situations. The position requires assisting with minimal comps, voids, and promotions as well. Responsibilities of on-boarding and on-the-job training of the team will be required.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven experience as a skilled Mixologist or Bartender.
  • Deep knowledge of ingredients and techniques used in mixology.
  • Ability to craft unique and balanced cocktails that leave a lasting impression.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills to engage and interact with guests.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and the capability to handle a high-paced environment.
  • Creativity and a passion for pushing the boundaries of mixology.
  • Understanding of responsible alcohol service and compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • A commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Possess and maintain a strong level of menu knowledge, fine-dining service standards, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Skilled communicator and relationship-builder.
  • Knowledge of traditional bartending practices and skills in maintaining a bar with business levels at high volume.

Education and Work Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and proven experience as a skilled mixologist.
  • Previous Hospitality Industry experience preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • TIPS/ RBS Trained and Certified Required
  • ServSafe Certification Required

Reasoning Ability and Computer Skills

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
