Job Summary:

The Crew Foreman is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and production of their team and achieving the daily objectives of their assigned field locations. Ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget, while also ensuring that quality standards are met. Assigning tasks to individual workers or groups, tracking progress on these tasks, and making sure that the team is working safely, effectively, and efficiently.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides General Foreman or other designee with accurate payroll and revenue information of assigned crews.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the positive enforcement of the company's and customer's policies, procedures, and daily work requirements.
  • Observes, supports, and provides guidance to crew members in achieving maximum results in local operational priorities.
  • Oversees all OSHA and ANSI Standards as well as all company safety and personnel policies.
  • Assists the General Foreman with coordinating equipment repairs and the scheduling of preventive maintenance.
  • Documents and reports all personnel and equipment damage and/or safety incidents.
  • Assists the General Foreman in the bidding of work.
  • Obtains necessary permissions for crews to begin work.
  • Contact local residents, officials, or departments to ensure a smooth flow of work.
  • Promptly and professionally handles customers' complaints.
  • Communicate daily with General Foreman on crew activity, equipment problems, and safety or any other pertinent issues.
  • Ensure all pre-post trip vehicle/equipment inspections are completed and submitted.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Conducts self-in-manner consistent with the mission and values of the United Clearing Services.

Requirements:

  • Two years or more experience working as a Trimmer/Climber, working around utility lines.
  • Ability to lead small groups.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of trees including identification, growth habits, and correct arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining, and removing, as applicable to working close to energized conductors.
  • Experience in tree climbing, knot tying, and maintaining safety standards of self and others, including proper wear of PPE.
  • Understanding of drawings and symbols representing types of lines, voltage, line equipment, etc.
  • Ability to perform physical labor such as lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height.
  • Capable of operating two-handed equipment (chain saw, circular saw, etc.) and have the physical ability to endure extreme climate variances.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • CDL and/or medical certificate preferred for the type of vehicle being operated.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests.
  • Ability to travel and remain overnight, as needed.

Job Type:

  • Full-time
  • Schedule: 10-hour shift, 12-hour shift, 8-hour shift
  • Overtime Available
  • Monday to Friday (weekends may be required)
