Senior System Administrator

The Senior System Administrator is a critical member of the Information Technology team. The Senior System Administrator is a leadership role and aligns priorities and plans with key business objectives. A senior system administrator manages and maintains the organization’s IT infrastructure, including computer systems, networks, and databases. In this role, the Senior System Administrator will have excellent troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with various operating systems
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Oversees the selection, development, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and enhancement of the organization’s technology infrastructure. Stays current in technology trends and proactively provides technology recommendations.
· Assists staff in developing methods and processes to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and security of the network services, desktop support and user support functions. Maintains current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems.
· Manages the development and delivery of IT standards, best practices, architecture, and systems to ensure information system security across the enterprise.
· Ensures that appropriate communications regarding hardware services and infrastructure take place throughout the organization conducting regular team meetings, encouraging an open-door policy, and proactively seeking feedback from staff. Troubleshoots, resolves, and communicates networking issues to IT team and management.
· Manages the daily operations of the hardware services and access requests. Mentors the IT Support Specialists providing leadership, motivation, coaching, professional development, and day-to-day support to ensure an engaged work environment with a focus on customer service.
· Maintains computer networks including mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware. Installs and configures network equipment. Manage devices on network through Active Directory. Manage user access. Monitors computer systems to improve network performance for all systems.
· Implements and maintains all network services infrastructure with special emphasis on the security and stability of Silver Hill Hospital systems and their confidential data. Develops, schedules, tests and communicates the IT Disaster
· Recovery plan and procedures and implements when necessary. Implements disaster recovery procedures.
· Plan, test, and implement upgrades for our information systems.
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Five years of experience as a system administrator in a healthcare environment is preferred.
· Ten years in an IT management role.
· Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
· Significant experience with computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
· Significant experience with ITIL and NIST best practices.
Education:
· BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field required; MSc/MA preferred.
