Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and innovation of our manufacturing processes. Your expertise in problem-solving, CNC machining, and extensive experience in the field will be essential in driving our production capabilities forward. The Manufacturing Engineer will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.


•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes that meet quality standards and production goals.

•Utilize your problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues in production, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.

•Optimize CNC machining operations, including programming, tooling selection, and process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and minimize waste.

•Conduct feasibility studies, cost analysis, and capacity planning to support decision-making related to manufacturing processes and equipment investments.

•Develop and maintain documentation such as work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance with industry regulations.

•Drive continuous improvement initiatives by leading lean manufacturing projects, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence on the shop floor.

•Provide technical support and training to production personnel to ensure the successful implementation of new processes and technologies.

•Performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.

•Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments


Requirements:

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or technical school with at least two years running a CNC mill, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering roles within a machining environment.

· Proven expertise in CNC machining operations, including programming (G-code), setup, and troubleshooting.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

· Excellent problem-solving abilities with a track record of implementing effective solutions to complex manufacturing challenges.

· Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is preferred.

· Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results on time and within budget.

· Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk or hear. The position is also regularly required to walk, use hands to grasp, hold, handle, reach with arms and hands, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and heat while in the shop. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
