Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: The Music Teacher will implement a well-planned instructional program designed to meet the educational and behavioral needs of the students and meet NYSED standards for curriculum and instruction in music education.
Principle Assigned Responsibilities:
- Implement a differentiated instructional program designed to meet the needs of students with and without disabilities.
- Utilize a repertoire of all types of music genres that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.
- Develop and refine music curriculum based on NYSED standards.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports and grades as appropriate.
- Provide and maintain an environment conducive to learning.
- Follow Individualized Education Plans as appropriate for each student.
- Implement and follow applicable treatment goals for each student.
- Provide direct supervision of a Teacher Assistant in your classroom.
- Participate in all required training and in-services within or outside of HGS and the Tilton School to meet HGS and NYSED guidelines for training and certification.
- Attend all staff meetings
- Implement an effective behavior management program within your classroom consistent with the school program based that demonstrates positive reinforcement.
- Take part in QI training and demonstrate commitment and active participation in the agency’s ongoing quality Improvement Program.
- Maintain all appropriate records and documentation to obtain and/or sustain appropriate NYSED Teacher Certification.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Master's degree in education, special education, music or a related field OR
- Bachelor's degree in education, special education, music or a related field. Teachers Certification required. Teacher experience preferred.
