Overview

The Echo Technician 2 performs testing procedures consisting of Adult Echocardiagrams, Stress Echo Treadmill, TEE, Electrocardiographs and/or Pediatric Echocardiagram as required by facility with supervision of Director. S/he may provide service to patients, from neonatal, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. Maintaining Intersocietal Accreditation Commission Standards for NAH Cardiac Service Line.Coordination with department charge and leadership regarding echo concerns and computer application for cardiology procedures.


Responsibilities

Patient Care
* Demonstrates the ability to prioritizes orders according to medical necessity.
Operations
* Demonstrates knowledge of proper procedure in care of equipment for cardio procedures qualified to perform.

* Recognizes and reports unusual occurrences to the appropriate supervisor.

* Demonstrates ability to assist physicians and staff.

* Provides physicians with requested information.

* Provides testing procedures in a timely manner.


Leadership
* Under direct supervision of manager, the Lead Echo Tech will act as a subject matter expert for all Echo Tech responsibilities. This includes orientation of Echo Tech staff, providing input to evaluations of Echo Tech staff, and ensuring staffing levels are appropriate.

* The Lead Echo Tech will serve as the resource person when manager is unavailable. Lead Echo Tech will work collaboratively with charge nurse.

* The Lead Echo Tech will also assist manager in driving process improvement initiatives, ensuring continuous process improvement across the service line.

* Lead Echo Tech will act as a resource for cardiology service line procedures.

* Coordination with department charge and leadership regarding echo concerns and computer application for cardiology procedures.

* Maintain Intersocietal Accreditation Commission Standards for NAH Cardiac Service Line.

Data Integrity
* Identifies correct patient chart by verification of correct Cardiology number and MRN.

* Verifies correct procedure by schedule book or by contacting ordering physician.

* Completes necessary pre-test paperwork with all identification and information needed by reading physician.

* Ensures accurate technical data is aquired, recorded, and prepared for interpretation.

* Ensures proper charges are generated for completes procedures.


Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.

* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.


Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or GED- Required
Completion of Accrediated CV Sonography Program - Required


Certification & Licensures
ARDMS or CCI- Required
Pediatric Certification - Preferred

BLS (American Heart Association)- Required

Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.


Experience
Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
