Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: Accountability: Chaplain Manager and CPO
Status: Part-Time; Jubilee will consider full-time chaplains as Wage and Labor Ministerial Exempt and not subject to FLSA.
BFOQ: Gender, Religion
Purpose: Provide Chaplaincy services to female inmates of the county jail facility
Qualifications
- Committed to a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Member in good standing of local evangelical Christian church
- Living a life of integrity
- Called to Prison Ministry
- Willing to adhere to Jubilee’s Mission Statement, Core Values, Statement of Faith, Position Statements, and Employee Code of Conduct
- Willing to learn and adhere to all security regulations
- Willing to work through any personal biases to minister to all types of offenders
- Able to provide Biblical teaching and counseling relevant to inmate population
- Able to share the Good News using Scripture and personal testimony (experience in teaching and/or prison work is helpful)
- Familiar with 12 Step Recovery to relate to addicts and construct a “theology” of addiction
Working Conditions/Physical Factors: Occasionally= 1-33% Frequently= 34-66% Continuously= 67%-100%
- Carrying/Lifting Boxes and Supplies- Occasionally
- On Feet- Walking/Standing- Frequently
- Interacting with Inmates/Prison Staff- Continuously
- Work will take place inside a secure/restricted access facility
Duties:
- Schedule and teach Bible studies and other classes (e.g., 12 Step Classes).
- Schedule, attend, and lead weekly worship services and preside over sacraments as appropriate.
- Visit female inmate housing areas for conversation, prayer, and to distribute Bibles and Christian literature.
- Provide pastoral care for female inmates as requested.
- Respond to Inmate Request Forms in a timely manner.
- Schedule and train volunteers to assist in Bible Studies and Worship.
- Complete daily logs and monthly reports.
- Provide pastoral care for Prison Administration and Security Staff as appropriate.
- Attend required training as instructed by Warden or other prison staff.
- Assist in organization and execution of special events (i.e., CO appreciation, Christmas gift distribution).
- Be part of Jubilee staff meetings and team building.
- Other duties, as assigned.
