Pay: $18+/hour DOE

Schedule: Full-time or Part-time; weekend availability required

Midway, LLC is a family-owned umbrella company that supports a variety of entities. Services under the Midway, LLC umbrella include financial, facility and farm support for commercial and residential properties, as well as Graham and Tooze, a consumer facing farm store. The Facility Department supports two residential properties with farm animals including chickens, goats, llamas and alpacas, horses and more. During the summer months, the facility staff is also responsible for supporting small harvest programs in the garden and fruit tree orchard.

The Farm Hand is a diligent and hard worker who is willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed throughout the business.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience with small and large farm animals (including handling and medical/wellness care).

  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Reliable attendance is essential to providing optimum animal care.
  • Able to work outside, year-round in all-weather elements.
  • Must work well with others and enjoy working with animals.
  • Experience working with hand electrical tools.
  • General knowledge of computer programs and applications
  • Experience using office equipment.
  • Must be able to walk and stand; must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle with adequate level of insurance

What You’ll Do:
Under the general direction of the Lead Farmhand (and Facilities Manager), the Farm Hand/Animal Caretaker assists in performing routine farm animal care and grounds maintenance. Works with related operating equipment and systems. Performs related preventive maintenance duties as required.

Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of animal care, including but not limited to feeding, watering, observing animals for signs of injury and/or illness, muck horse stalls, clean dog kennels, and wash bedding.
  • General farm maintenance, including but not limited to maintenance/repair of fences, paddocks, pastures, shelters, barns, & water systems; mowing & weed whacking; landscaping maintenance around the property; maintain cleanliness of the property.
  • Operate farm equipment.
  • Perform daily work-order checks and record data in company computer database.
  • Learn standard preventative maintenance procedures relevant to the related buildings and utilize.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure all paperwork for animals is complete and up to date.
  • All other duties as assigned.
