Job Description:

The JAAW Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support our software development teams working on classified workloads, specifically focusing on the Integrated Battle Control Station (IBCS) system. As an ISSO, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security, integrity, and confidentiality of our software systems, particularly in cloud environments. Your expertise in information security and cloud technology will ensure compliance with government regulations and safeguard sensitive data throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with software development teams to understand project requirements and provide guidance on the implementation of security controls for classified workloads.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of security plans, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with government regulations (e.g., NIST, RMF) and industry best practices.
- Conduct security assessments of software systems and cloud infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities, risks, and potential threats.
- Assist in the implementation of security controls and measures to mitigate identified risks and vulnerabilities.
- Monitor security logs and alerts, analyzing and responding to security incidents and anomalies.
- Conduct continuous monitoring of security controls to ensure their effectiveness and recommend improvements or corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cloud service providers to address security concerns and ensure a secure and compliant working environment.
- Assist in the development and implementation of security awareness and training programs for development teams, promoting a culture of security-consciousness and best practices.
- Support the planning and execution of security assessments, audits, and inspections, including assisting with the resolution of security findings and implementing corrective actions.
- Stay updated with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies specific to cloud environments and classified workloads.
- Provide guidance and support for security-related certifications, accreditations, and documentation required for software systems operating in classified environments.
- Collaborate with other security personnel on cross-functional security initiatives, sharing best practices and lessons learned.
- Maintain and update documentation related to security controls, incidents, and policies.
- Adhere to classified information handling requirements and ensure compliance with security clearance and access procedures.
- Collaborate with external parties, such as third-party auditors and government representatives, during security assessments and inspections.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, or equivalent.
- Minimum 12 years of professional experience as an ISSO or in a similar information security role, specifically with experience supporting software development teams and classified workloads.
- Strong understanding of information security principles, frameworks, regulations, and industry best practices (e.g., NIST, FIPS, RMF, DIACAP).
- Experience working with cloud technologies, preferably AWS Gov Cloud, and familiarity with cloud security controls, services, and compliance requirements.
- Solid knowledge of secure coding practices and software development methodologies.
- Understanding of networking concepts, system administration, and security controls for both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Proven experience conducting security assessments, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Familiarity with encryption techniques, digital signatures, access controls, and authentication protocols.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to security.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Security clearance at the appropriate level (or eligibility to obtain one) is required.
