Immanuel Christian School was founded in 1979 to provide a grace-filled, Christ-centered education shaping students to become lifelong learners who serve others with integrity and honor. ICS continues to dramatically impact the Greater Hazleton community by empowering generations of diverse students with a biblical worldview, to love God and pursue service before self. ICS encourages an environment where students can grow in character, wisdom, and discernment to pursue the life God has called each of them to live.


The Position:

ICS is seeking an innovative and collaborative Executive Director to lead and inspire school personnel and families in the schools next phase to grow and impact children and families in the city of Hazleton with a high quality academic education that helps all students reach their God-given potential.


The Executive Directors primary responsibilities are focused on strategic advancement and financial sustainability, development of academic programs to meet a changing demographic, and spiritual leadership. The Executive Director will have resources available within the school to support the academic portions of the job (i.e. Masters level academic colleagues) The Executive Director also oversees social enterprise affiliated with the school which operates two small businesses: a Thrift Store and Leos Little Kitchen. The Executive Director reports to the ICS Board of Trustees.


Responsibilities:

Spiritual

  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer and devotion as a regular aspect of your role within ICS, teach and preach from the Bible at staff meetings and events
  • Set overall chapel theme for the year, implement devotional plan for the year, recruits chapel speakers and serves as primary Shepherd for the school body


Strategic Leadership

  • Serves as employee to the Board of Trustees, attends bi-monthly board meetings, updates board on progress with strategic plan, recruits new board members
  • Work with the Board to execute the new strategic plan to foster growth and achievement of goals, develop a budget and execute on financial plan
  • Regularly provide reports to the Board of Trustees to track progress of strategic initiatives


Staff and Operations Management

  • Manage indirectly a staff of approximately 25, including 3 senior leadership positions as direct reports
  • Develop employees through mentorship, training, and evaluation, lead by example to create an inclusive, equitable, and empowering workplace culture
  • Oversee various functions within the organization, including Development, IT, accounting, and facilities management


Community Cultivation

  • Build and maintain relationships with community members to advance the organizations mission and elevate the community
  • Communicate proactively and consistently with parents, teachers, donors, and other stakeholders on the organizations initiatives, progress, and key issues
  • Network with educational leaders in the field to stay informed of current issues, opportunities, and best practices


Development

  • Together with Development Manager and Grant Writer, develop, implement, and succeed in a fundraising plan to support the organizations current operations and enable future initiatives to meet the goals for various constituencies, i.e. major donors, tax credit program, partners, participants, events, alumni participation, foundations, etc.
  • Cultivate relationships to expand and secure funding sources in partnership with the Development Manager; serve as the school representative at donor meetings in partnership with the Development Manager
  • Serves as chair of the social enterprise and oversees the social enterprise leadership / business managers


Executive Director

  • Cultivates a shared vision among the board, donors, faculty, staff and the broader community for the endeavor of providing a high-quality education with a biblical worldview and individualized student growth among a diverse population
  • Manages the performance and professional development of the Dean of Students, Academic Principal, Director of Development, Finance Manager, Athletic Director and office staff
  • Finalize the International Student program with Finance Manager and Admissions Manager and implement the program
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to explore launching a bilingual Pre-K in FY 2026, as well as a summer school program for grades 3-12


Academic Operations Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop and support full and part-time faculty in their pursuit of high-quality instruction with a biblical worldview and individualized student growth
  • Together with Upper and Lower school academic leadership, conduct curriculum review; remain connected to current educational research and collaborate with faculty for continual improvement of curriculum and overall program, with particular focus on students whose first language is Spanish and whose families have immigrated to the U.S.
  • Attend parent meetings with the Dean of Students or Principal
  • Work with the Lower School Principal and the Dean of Students to formulate expected outcomes, goals, and objectives for spiritual formation of students from K-12
  • Oversee High School Leadership Team staff in carrying out their duties
  • Oversee finalization of safety policies and procedures, such as Hazard Safety Plan, Intruder training, and drill procedures; communicate and organize plan elements school-wide


Qualifications:

  • A deep rooted love and personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Progressive senior leadership experience over the past ten years including supervision of a large staff
  • Experience in cross-cultural communication and building teams among diverse constituencies required; fluency in Spanish preferred
  • Experience with shepherding, energizing, and inspiring students and families toward the love and goodness of God and the mission of ICS
  • Bachelors degree required (Masters degree preferred) in the areas of business, fundraising, ministry or academics
  • Demonstrated leadership success with strategic planning, development, and implementation of innovative and fruitful fundraising programs
  • Knowledge of overall operations of a non-profit including finances, marketing and advancement; academic experience (curriculum, admissions) is a plus
  • Previous high school leadership experience is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to joyfully interface and cultivate a shared vision among a diverse audience, including board members, upper and lower school leadership, donors, faculty, staff and the broader community
  • Available and flexible to work evenings and weekends and attend events after work hours
