Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

BETA is seeking an experienced Traffic Project Engineer to join our team. This position will play a key role in performing traffic and transportation design, developing contract plans and documents and mentoring junior staff. This position will also collaborate across our multiple service areas, assist with business development, project pursuits, and coordinate projects with our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform traffic engineering design including traffic analysis, traffic signal design, phasing and timing, traffic modeling and simulation, and traffic data collection programs
  • Prepare engineering for traffic signals, intersection geometry, pavement markings and signage, temporary traffic control and construction staging plans
  • Provide technical oversight mentoring junior staff
  • Prepare contract documents, reports, and estimates
  • Collaborate with design team members and provide technical support

Preferred location is BETA’s Lincoln office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.

Requirements:

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • 5+ years of related engineering experience in traffic and transportation projects
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE / EIT) certification
  • Demonstrated strong background in traffic and transportation engineering
  • Proficiency in Synchro and SimTraffic
  • Experience working with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Microstation, and OpenRoads
  • Experience with MUTCD, AASHTO, and RIDOT design policy guidelines and requirements
  • Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
  • Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Experience:

  • Vissim experience, advantageous
  • Professional Engineer license preferred
