Position Summary:

DLS is looking for a talented and passionate Senior Scientific Project Manager - Genomics. This Senior Project Manager will contribute to our mission by managing all aspects of the order fulfillment process and ensuring the satisfaction of our customers. This position is essential to the success of our Genomics business, and will require effective collaboration with all departments within the company.

A Day in the Life of a Senior Scientific Project Manager at Discovery Life Sciences:

  • Communicate with customers daily regarding order fulfillment
  • Communicate with clinical sites to obtain status updates
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues to determine project capabilities, timelines, influence decision making, and resolve complex issues

Position Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):

  • Bachelor’s, Master's or PhD in a Biological Science.
  • 5+ years of PM experience, PMP Certification preferred
  • 3+ years of experience with the project management of clinical trials preferred
  • Biotech experience not required but strong consideration given to relevant experience
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. SalesForce.com experience is desirable but not required. Project Management software experience desirable.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse population to ascertain information, relay information, resolve conflict, establish rapport, remain courteous, influence decisions, clarify capabilities and propose solutions
  • Ability to handle high stress situations with ease while maintaining a positive and productive attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with customers on a daily basis via phone and email related to:
    • Products, services and processes
    • Order confirmation and project configuration
    • Customer account information
    • Data delivery
    • Collection parameters and shipping detail
    • Project status updates
    • Custom processing protocols
    • Dissatisfaction with samples or service
  • Communicate with clinical sites on a daily basis via phone and email related to:
    • Project criteria
    • Receipt of collection kits
    • Project status updates
  • Communicate internally with colleagues related to:
    • Source capability
    • Project criteria
    • Order fulfillment
    • Pathology review
    • Project invoicing and collection site reimbursement
    • Monitor incoming samples and outgoing data
    • Communicate project status to sales team
    • Customer feedback
  • Provide samples to histology lab to have slides prepared, cut or divided
  • Provide slides and pathology reports for pathology review
  • Accurately record and maintain information in database
  • Communicate with the feasibility team regarding project scopes
  • Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the Company interacts
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the Company and its operations

Location and work hours:

  • Onsite at our Huntsville, AL lab – will consider candidates willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL
  • Flexible work schedule, start time between 7am and 9am local time
  • Less than 5% domestic or international travel required for mandatory site meetings and trainings
