SoBran is seeking a Radon Testing Technician for our Oak Ridge location:

Duties will include but not limited to:

Description of Duties:

Radon Testing

  • Trainable to learn how to conduct radon testing in various size buildings, particularly on military installations
    • Testing consists of placing and retrieving (picking up) various types of radon detectors used to determine radon levels in rooms in Residential and Non-residential buildings
    • Work consists of carrying duffle bags of radon detectors that could weigh up to 30 pounds and/or acting as the data collection person documenting the placement or retrieval of the detectors
    • Carry tubs/bags of detectors that weight up to 50 pounds
    • Work is indoors but can require walking between buildings
  • Become NRPP Radon Measurement Professional or National Radon Safety Board equivalent

Radon Mitigation

  • Trainable to learn how to perform radon mitigation diagnostics and mitigation system installations on large buildings
    • Diagnostics consists of the use of various instruments, hand tools and power tools (e.g., hammer drills) to perform sub-slab permeability studies and radon source investigations to determine types and number of mitigation systems to install
    • Mitigation consists of the use of various instruments, hand tools, and power tools (e.g., hammer drills, core rigs) to install various types of mitigation systems
    • Work is both indoors and outdoors
    • Willingness to use ladders and high lift equipment
    • Willingness to enter utility tunnels and tight spaces
  • Become NRPP Radon Mitigation Specialist or National Radon Safety Board equivalent

General Shop Duties

  • Warehouse
    • Assist in storage of equipment and materials in warehouse
    • Keeping warehouse orderly and clean
    • Packing equipment and materials for projects

Required experience:

  • US. Citizen with ability to pass background check to obtain base pass to U.S. Military installations
  • The ability to Travel both domestic and international up to 45 days per trip
  • Current issued passport and driver's license
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Able to lift rubs/equipment up to 50 pounds
  • The ability to use hand truck and forklift with appropriate training
  • Basic knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, excel and Word
