This is an exciting opportunity to lead the electrical engineering efforts from concept to product launch of innovative, market-first products. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and validating electrical hardware for consumer electronic products. Requirements:

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with marketing and cross-functional engineering teams to define product features and requirements.
  • Design, propose, and negotiate electrical hardware that meets or exceeds product specifications for life safety products. This includes schematic design, PCB layout design, prototyping, testing, and debugging of digital and analog electrical hardware.
  • Play a lead role in creating technical specifications from product requirements.
  • Lead the electrical bring-up, debug, and validation of analog and digital designs.
  • Create test documentation and perform electrical verification testing as required.
  • Work with internal teams and external contract manufacturers to bring products to mass production.
  • Track and report on product costs and associated component sourcing risks.
  • Define and implement electrical hardware release and revision control best practices and policies.

Required Skills and Experience

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing electrical hardware for consumer electronic products.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience designing IoT products is a strong plus.
  • Experience designing electrical systems utilizing 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit MCUs, ARM processors, and FPGAs is a plus.
  • Proficient in processor peripheral interfaces (SDIO, I2C, SPI, RS232, Parallel, and Serial/UART storage).
  • Experience with both analog and digital electrical design.
  • Expertise in sensor and transducer design.
  • Strong working knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity.
  • Experience designing low-cost, reliable electrical platforms.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) experience with a proven track record of taking designs through manufacturing.
  • Ability to perform simple mechanical/electrical assembly for quick prototyping.
  • Proficient with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Proficient in status reporting and communicating technical data/results, issues, impacts, and corrective actions.
  • Working knowledge of PCB layout and construction is a plus.
  • Experience designing products to meet UL2034 and/or UL217 standards is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with Waterfall and/or Agile NPD processes is a strong plus.

Desired Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design practices and testing.
  • Familiarity with high-speed digital design and layout.
  • Experience with thermal management in electronic systems.
  • Proficient in using simulation tools for circuit analysis and design optimization.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory requirements for consumer electronics.
  • Experience with firmware development and debugging is a plus.
