Position Summary:

  • We are seeking a skilled optician to join our eyecare team As an optician, you will work closely with our patients that have had an eye exam and received a prescription for corrective lenses, to provide them with the best possible eyewear solutions to meet their needs. You will be responsible for guiding clients through the selection process, measuring their eyes for proper fit ensuring their glasses or contacts are properly adjusted.

Key Results Areas (KRAs):

  • Assist patients in selecting the best eyewear to meet their needs including advising patients on frame weights, materials, style and colors
  • Take precise measurements to ensure proper fit of glasses or contact
  • Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
  • Educate patients on proper care and maintenance of their eyewear
  • Maintain records of patient prescriptions, work orders and payments.
  • Work closely with our team of eye doctors to ensure clients receive the best possible care
  • Interpreting the results of eye examinations, using prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologist.
  • Measure patients' bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes, using measuring devices.
  • Preparing orders for glasses and/or contact lenses by checking prescriptions, lens thickness and other specifications.
  • Making sure that orders for glasses and/or contact lenses have been processed accurately
  • Perform duties such as tracking inventory and sales, patient prescriptions, submitting patient insurance information, entering vision claims, verifying claims paid correctly and posting payments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, Red Flag Rules and Medicare Conditions of Coverage requirements

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • High school graduate, or equivalent
  • 2-3 years experience working in Ophthalmology/Optometry office
  • Licensed Optician preferred but not required
