Job Summary
Monitor property grounds to ensure pleasant appearance. Maintain lawns by mowing, edging, raking leaves and performing other grounds maintenance functions. Wash, clean and re-fuel all equipment after use. Maintain flower beds, baskets, and boxes by watering, removing weeds, trimming, and performing other maintenance.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Use of hand tools (i.e., rakes, shovels, hoes, picks, expandable hand saw, post pounder, post puller and other handheld equipment.
- Weed potted plants, beds and lawns, plant and transplant flora and fauna
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls
- Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, or other ground features.
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, hedge trimmers or pruners
- Gather and remove litter from property and beach areas
- Operate String Trimmer (safety video, training, use of safety measures, PPE and safe operation required)
- Operate Brush Cutter (safety video, training, use of safety measures, PPE and safe operation required)
- Wash and clean company vehicles and/or equipment
- Transport company vehicles and/or equipment
- Operate Hedge Trimmer (safety video, training, use of safety measures, PPE and safe operation required)
- Use of push mowers, tru cut mowers (safety video, training, use of safety measures, PPE and safe operation required)
- Operate riding mowers (safety video, training, use of safety measures, PPE and safe operation required)
- Mix and use spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders (safety video, training, use of safety measures, PPE and safe operation required)
- Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools.
- Learn the required tasks to be completed at each ranch location and the tools and equipment needed to perform each task
- Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security staff.
- Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, blood borne pathogens, etc. including using Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Ability to work with direction and supervision
- Other duties as required
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
Job Skills & Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Operation and Control of Equipment or Systems
- Work with tools used in this occupation, i.e., String trimmers, Chainsaws, Hedge Trimmers, Tillers, Lawn Mowers, etc.
- Familiar with fertilizer spreaders or distributors, i.e., Hand spreaders, Salt Spreaders, Graders or Land Levelers, Land planes, Landscape rakes, Power rakes, etc.
- Experience with Rakes, Shovels, Arena rakes, Artificial Turf Groomers, Iron rakes, Turf Sweepers, dirt shovels, Sod Lifters, Hoes, etc.
- Knowledge of mechanical machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
- Coordination with Arm-Hand Steadiness – The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
- Control/Precision – The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
- Manual Dexterity – The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand with your arm, or two hands, to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Near Vision – The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Static Strength – The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
