About the Role

The EHS Emergency Response Lead is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive emergency response plans to ensure the safety of employees, the facility, and the environment. This role involves conducting risk assessments, organizing training programs and drills, and coordinating incident management efforts. The EHS Emergency Response Lead ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, maintains emergency equipment, and fosters a culture of safety and preparedness. Additionally, this position involves engaging with community stakeholders and continuously improving emergency response strategies based on lessons learned and industry best practices.

What You Will Do
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, spill response, and fire safety protocols.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential emergency scenarios and their impacts on the facility, employees, and environment.
  • Design and conduct regular training programs for employees on emergency response procedures, including first aid, firefighting, and hazardous material handling.
  • Organize and lead emergency drills and simulations to ensure preparedness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during emergencies, coordinating response efforts and communication between internal teams and external agencies.
  • Ensure all emergency response activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and readiness of emergency response equipment, including fire extinguishers, spill kits, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure all safety systems, such as alarms and sprinkler systems, are functional and regularly tested.
  • Develop and maintain communication protocols for alerting employees, management, and external agencies during emergencies.
  • Establish and lead an emergency response team, providing guidance and support during incident response.
  • Implement measures to minimize environmental impact during emergencies, including containment and cleanup procedures for hazardous materials.
  • Maintain detailed records of emergency response activities, training sessions, and equipment inspections.
  • Work closely with and help direct Security Team response, coordination, and investigation efforts.
  • Support all EHS&S work activities as needed to meet EHS&S department objectives.
What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Emergency Management, or a related field is strongly preferred by not required
  • A minimum of three years of experience supporting safety, health and environmental operations in a manufacturing/production environment
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations a plus.
  • Strong understanding of EHS regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation techniques.
  • Able to work cross-functionally with staff in Operations, Maintenance, Production, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources and Research and Development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of word processor, spreadsheet, other PC applications, or mainframe applications to produce non-standard, creative products.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)

Work Environment
