The Chief Operations Officer is responsible for the oversight of all non-attorney, legal personnel and providing the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure operational efficiency and organizational growth with the proper controls, reporting procedures, personnel and systems in place.

The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the company.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing, directing, and mentoring operational units of non-attorney legal personnel.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management to a service organization that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company.
  • Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass operational business goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all operational processes, internal and external, while driving efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Develop and implement corporate policies and procedures in operations to enhance use and integration of technology and reduce redundant tasks.
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization.
  • Lead a high-performance management team; attract, recruit and retain required members of the team not currently in place; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to management career development.
  • Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with offices and regions using routine scheduled communication on performance.
  • Represent the firm through direct contact with clients.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
  • Work closely with CEO and CFO to create annual goals and work with operations teams to accomplish goals.
  • Align operational units to integrate and utilize strengths available throughout the organization.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Legal experience preferred not required.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing operations.
  • Must be flexible and able to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment while maintaining constant focus on excellent delivery.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate with attorneys, staff, and clients.
  • Must have strong computer skills; Word, Excel and Outlook as well as thorough understanding of ware systems to access and utilize client systems.
  • Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission.
  • Travel to office locations and clients, as necessary, some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is usually in an indoor office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
