Job Description

The Aquatic Division is seeking a highly motivated technician with a great attitude and strong ethics. This job is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and cleaning a wide range of lake fountains and aeration systems. They will also maintain a schedule of accounts to control aquatic vegetation in waterways using boats and UTVs.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

OPERATIONS:

  • Spray complete algae, grass, and brush control to maintain ponds, lakes, and various aquatic areas.
  • Additional duties may include cattail/brush removal, water testing, stocking fish, and cleaning or repair of fountain and aerators.
  • Perform Equipment/Vehicle inspections (responsible for truck/spray system).
  • Make sure all work is conducted in compliance with strict safety guidelines and label requirements.
  • Treatment and control of complete weed, grass, and brush in various commercial/industrial sites of nuisance, as well as invasive plants and vegetation in various lakes, ponds, and waterways.
  • Assist with all daily routing, scheduling, and tank mixing.
  • Have all the necessary tools and equipment on board, including repair kits for on-the-road repairs.
  • Have all proper paperwork, MSDS sheets, labels, etc.
  • Have all proper safety items, such as vests, hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, etc.
  • Make sure all equipment is in working order, such as water suck pumps, chemical injection equipment, computer, etc., and minor repairs are made.
  • Truck cleanliness and care.
  • Be capable of calibrating all spray equipment.
  • Make sure all work is conducted in compliance with strict safety guidelines.
  • Basic understanding of weed, grass, and brush types.
  • Complete understanding of chemicals used, what they control, and all safety requirements.

TECHNICAL:

  • Understanding of chemicals used, what they control, and all safety requirements.
  • Basic understanding of application methods and equipment (i.e., boats, four-wheel drive trucks).
  • Ability to communicate professionally with Homeowners, Apartments, and other customers.
  • Understanding of outdoor working conditions.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 18+ years of age or older.
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting is an advantage, but not required.
  • Prior experience in the Aquatic Vegetation Management field is an advantage, but not required.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicators License for Aquatic Vegetation Management is preferred, but not required for hire. This license will need to be obtained in the first year.
  • Be able to work outdoors in hot and humid conditions.
  • Must know how to swim and not be afraid of the water.
  • All candidates must successfully clear the following per DCS’ company standards prior to hire.
  • MVR/Driver’s License (3 years back)
  • Controlled Substance/Drug Test
