Job Description

We are looking for a Personal Banker with strong member service skills and a desire to advance within our organization. This position reports to the Branch Manager and offers significant growth potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales and Service: Sell Credit Union deposit and loan products. Provide various paying and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashier's checks, money orders, and cash advances. Balance daily transactions and verify cash totals. Perform assigned side-jobs and assist other tellers as needed. Heavy cross-sell of Credit Union products and services is required.
  • Member Assistance: Promptly and professionally serve members and prospective members. Perform a broad range of financial services, including opening and closing individual retirement accounts, checking accounts, savings accounts, and term share accounts. Assist members with account issues and answer questions regarding Credit Union services. Meet cross-sell quotas for products and services. Address member inquiries and problems, both in-person and over the phone. Review and submit applications for consumer loans and debit/credit cards, meeting with applicants as necessary to gather additional information.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 30% Identify cross-sell opportunities and promote products and services to members. Participate in sales development activities.
  • 25% Respond to member inquiries via phone, email, and chat professionally and promptly. Resolve member complaints and follow up on member requests. Monitor incoming calls and remain active in the queue when scheduled.
  • 20% Assist members with opening and closing accounts, lending requests, and resolving issues within their authority. Refer complex problems to management with recommendations.
  • 10% Process member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments. Sell money orders and cashier's checks. Balance cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • 5% Welcome members, provide routine information about services, and direct them to appropriate departments.
  • 5% Ensure compliance with loan and account terms and conditions. Stay informed about current trends, laws, and regulations on lending and consumer credit.
  • 5% Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

  • Efficient and accurate performance of financial services according to established policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Maintain good business relations with members by explaining products and services thoroughly and resolving problems promptly.
  • Maintain good working relationships and coordination with area personnel and management.
  • Accurate and timely analysis and evaluation of credit applications and related financial data.
  • Maintain the Credit Union’s professional reputation.
  • Efficient and accurate performance of teller functions according to established policies and procedures.
  • Balance monies accurately and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain a satisfactory balancing record.
Qualifications

  • Six months to two years of similar or related experience.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills.
  • Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment.
  • Good typing and math skills.


Additional Information

Compensation:  $22.50-24.50/hr + agressive monthly incentives
