Long Island Crisis Center is a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to support and empower Long Islanders at critical times in their lives.


Job Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for the financial and administrative operations of the organization. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will manage the Assistant Financial Manager and the Finance Assistant. The Manager will be expected to work creatively and communicate effectively with the finance team and colleagues throughout LICC and vendors.  


Responsibilities:

  • Track all agency income and expenses
  • Responsible for general ledger, bank reconciliations and bank transfers
  • Review accounts payable and approve payments
  • Process accounts receivable, including invoicing and resolving inquiries between contracts managers and funders
  • Assist with processing donations
  • Monitor cash flow
  • Create and update expense methodology as needed
  • Assist with payroll process and reports
  • Issue annual 1099s reports
  • Responsible for quarterly and monthly reports to the Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics
  • Assist with grant management including budget preparation for grants and contracts for the Crisis Center with contract managers and reporting
  • Monitor budgets for contracts, submit budget claims and prepare budget modifications when needed
  • Assist with the annual audit and the 990 form
  • Other general duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related area such as accounting, finance or economics
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in an accounting related environment 
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks or other similar accounting software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel background
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of budgetary and accounting principles, practices, and policies.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, especially to discern and prioritize urgent requests

 

Strongly Preferred:

    • Non-profit experience
    • Experience with government contracts
    • Experience with ADP Total Source
