SUMMARY
The Superintendent provides on-site supervision and leads the efforts of both regular employees and subcontractors. Monitors daily activities and compiles reports on progress, compliance, and obstacles. Communicates with subcontractor and field staff to ensure adherence to schedule, plans, and specifications while maximizing the company’s profit opportunities. Superintendent is responsible for the overall safety, management, and execution of the on-site work for the assigned project. Provides additional support for the project team, including the Project Manager and Project Engineer. Ensures the project closeout process is completed, demobilizes all resources, and transitions the project to the customer. The Superintendent may be assisting other Superintendents or working as the project lead on a single project of low to moderate risk. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Lead and attend all meetings as directed by the supervisor
- Coordinate tasks with project-based Administrative Assistants
- Oversee project staff in their specific assignments and is resourceful in solving project-related challenges
- Oversee project staff, monitoring schedule updates, which may include preconstruction schedules, preliminary construction schedules, or master construction schedule updates
- Oversee all aspects of construction projects, including but not limited to planning, implementation, and closeout
- Allocate resources for assigned projects
- Participates in the review of construction material testing reports
- Following time and material process protocols and extra field work as directed by Williams Company
- Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, city and county officials, and clients
- Participate in the generation of scheduling, phasing plans, and site utilization plans for shortlisting interviews in the RFQ/RFP process
- Negotiate with contractors to receive reasonable costs for on-field changes
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction specialists, giving clear orders explaining complex information to subcontractors and clients while discussing technical details
- Conduct effective and professional weekly meetings with subcontractors
- Leads and directs project quality assurance process
- Develops AHJ working relations to benefit the project
- Break down the project schedule into a two-week look ahead
- Ensures compliance with all legal requirements, building and safety codes, and regulations
- Proactively recognize and report to the project team potential project risk
- Accurately report and code all business receipts and submit them by the 15th and 30th of each month
- Review and hold an accountable project team to prime contract terms and conditions as it relates to document conformance, schedule, and change requirements
- Assist Project Manager in developing monthly cost projections and pay applications for accuracy
- Assist with determining staffing needs, participating in the hiring process, and onboarding of new team members for assigned department
- Supervising team providing regular and consistent feedback, including completion of annual performance review
- Lead, train, and develop team members
- Approve timecards for payroll purposes and approve PTO requests based on department needs
- Participates in regular and ongoing training
- Maintain a professional truck appearance at all times
- Communicate clearly and timely across the company; takes action to request information necessary to meet customer expectations and internal deadlines
- Maintain healthy, professional relationships, both internally and externally
- Create a consistent, professional work product that meets or exceeds standards
- Promote and support a culture of inclusion where opinions are heard, valued, and respected

- Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to 5+ years in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in managing subcontractors or employees
- OSHA 30 certified
- Previous experience leading K-12 education projects
- Strong working knowledge of blueprints, submittals, and shop drawings
- Must be knowledgeable in subcontract and owner contract language
- Strong working knowledge of construction project management systems
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proven problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset
- Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates strong time management skills
- Demonstrates punctuality and a sense of urgency
- Displays personal initiative and professionalism
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and negotiation skills
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regular and consistent attendance is expected and a necessary component of the job
- Employee will be required to work forty (40) hours per week or as many hours as it may take to perform the duties mentioned above. The schedule may vary based on business demands and could require evening hours and weekends
- Employee is to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) required while on any Williams Company construction site, including, but not limited to, a hard hat, hi-visibility vest, work boots, eye protection, and hearing protection
- Frequently moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces
- Frequently ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and similar
- Frequently remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Frequently communicating with others to exchange accurate information
- Frequently using manual dexterity, including wrists, hands, and fingers, to work with equipment as well as typing
- Frequently operating machinery and tools
- Frequently operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment
- Frequently assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
- Frequently utilizing visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and use a keyboard
- Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another
- Frequently adjusting, lifting, or moving objects of up to 50 pounds or more in all directions
- Frequently performing activities such as climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crawling
- Frequently working in adverse environmental conditions, such as low or high temperatures, precipitation, and wind
- Frequently working in hazardous conditions, including noisy environments, small and enclosed spaces with poor ventilation
