Position Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Test Engineer with experience in Electrical, FPGA, and firmware testing to join their team. In this role, you will develop and execute test plans to ensure their electrical subsystems meet design specifications and quality standards. You will design and execute comprehensive test plans, analyze product performance, and collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve hardware-related issues. Your keen attention to detail and problem-solving abilities will be essential to driving product excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and write test plans for testing FPGA-based embedded systems in collaboration with the design team to ensure that the systems meet design requirements.
- Define and execute tests on FPGA systems, analyze results, and identify problems. Scope down issues to a level that is reproducible in simulations or facilitates easier analysis by the design team.
- Understand and apply product requirements to ensure that the FPGA incorporates necessary Design For Test (DFT) capabilities.
- Conduct electrical tests on prototypes, production units, and field samples using various testing equipment.
- Perform firmware testing to validate that firmware operates as intended and integrates correctly with the hardware.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test systems and scripts to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency.
- Analyze automated test results, identify trends and anomalies, and troubleshoot issues to support continuous improvement in testing practices.
- Integrate automated tests into the overall testing framework and ensure they align with project requirements and milestones.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and firmware issues encountered during testing. Collaborate with design engineers to address and resolve problems.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices during testing activities.
- Work with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to provide feedback and participate in design reviews.
- Maintain accurate records of test procedures and results, and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
- Other duties tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience as a Test Engineer or in a similar role, with hands-on experience in testing complex PCBAs that include FPGAs and microcontrollers, as well as in firmware testing, and analysis.
- Experience in developing and executing FPGA and firmware test plans, understanding DFT (Design For Test) capabilities, and using testing methodologies and equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal analyzers.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test systems and scripts.
- Experience with firmware development and testing processes, including debugging and verification, is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey complex technical information.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with experience in cross-functional collaboration and understanding of product requirements.
Compensation: Up to $70k
