OVERVIEW

Provides direct services including counseling, case management, and advocacy for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind populations in the areas of vocation, life management, personal growth, and mental health concerns. Administers individual, family, and group counseling and maintains necessary case records and client file documentation. Major emphasis is placed on providing services to Deaf persons in the area of counseling. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Completes mental health evaluations and assessments on Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind adults, youth, and children, with oversight from supervisor
  • Provides intake services to include reviewing referral information, completing case history (biopsychosocial), intake, confidentiality, consent to treat, authorization to release information, and other forms, presenting information to team at weekly intake meetings, and completing and implementing consumer service treatment plans
  • Provides direct service to individuals at the Community Outreach Program for the Deaf (COPD) office, community settings, home residences, and/or at job sites
  • Provides individual, family, and group counseling (possibly including domestic violence, groups for women, and parenting groups)
  • Maintains case records and documentation for each consumer
  • Participates in training and in-services as required to enhance professional growth
  • Other duties may be assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.

  • Master Degree in Counseling, Rehabilitation, Social Work, or related field
  • LPC, LISW, LAC or NBCC credential(s)
  • Fluency in American Sign Language
  • 2 years of experience working with Deaf, Hard of Hearing and/or Deaf-Blind individuals in a professional capacity

REGULATORY

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39-month motor vehicle report
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen (incudes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)
